We already know that eggs are a food full of properties that benefit our body. But did you know that their peels also provide great benefits to our plants?

Surely you did not know, given that they are not edible, that the peels have a fundamental contribution of calcium that greatly helps the plant world . But we have to know the easy secrets so that we can use them successfully.

Next, we will show you some very important uses so that from this moment on you can begin to implement them in the beautiful and decorative indoor and outdoor plants that you have.

1 – Fight pests

Enough of snails and slugs. The peels are very easy to use to combat them. Place the shell that you have removed from an egg on the counter. and proceeds to crush it enough so that it does not turn into dust. Place this waste around the plant(s) that you know have been attacked by snails and slugs. You do not have to bury them, just make a wreath around them. These animals will not pass this barrier, since if they try to go over the shells they will get hurt. Therefore, the shells will act as a barrier to prevent them from approaching and thus stop attacking it for food.

2 – A land without acidity

We know that plants require soil for their healthy growth. But this soil must be conducive to them. Acidic soils will not be beneficial, and in general the soil always has this component. That is why with your shell on the counter, you will crush it very well until it turns into powder. It’s time to remove the soil that surrounds your plants and mix it with these crushed shells. As you water, the peels will release their properties, thus combating soil acidity.

3 – An excellent fertilizer

As we said, eggshells provide plants with a wonderful nutrient. That is why we will tell you some ways to prepare it so that you can keep them healthy.  You will use the shells of 6 eggs and place them in a pot with 3 liters of water until it starts to boil. From there you can, once cold, use it as an emulsion for your plants.

Another way, a little more complex, but much faster in its efficiency, is to crush 12 egg shells until it becomes flour-like. You can also place them inside a bag and with the back of a blade, mash more so that your flour is created. Then you will place it in a container with a lid and reserve until use. For at least 40 days above the ground, place one or two tablespoons of this powder on your plants and thus they will release the calcium slightly and each day.

4 – A natural pot

You can use your eggshells as a beautiful natural pot to make seedlings. With them, what you will have is a high source of permanent calcium for this stage of growth, which will be the fundamental basis for your plants to grow very healthy and with the necessary nutrients for good development. To do this, boil your egg, and once cooked you will remove only one top of the shell, leaving the widest one whole because it will serve as support. Leave them resting on the same container in which you bought the eggs and fill them with fertile soil and the seeds you want to have. Ready, let’s get to work.

5 – Fight the flea beetle

This tiny insect is so small that you probably won’t detect it. That is why when you see that the leaves of your plants are full of holes, it is because unfortunately this beetle has already done its thing . To avoid this attack, you will have to crush the eggshells into powder and spread them on the soil where your plants are located. This animal does not eat this dust, so it will go to other places to stock up on food.
